Question by Make Damn Sure: How is green tea good for you? The Lipton green tea with citrus. Not the kind you warm up. Is it just as good for you as the regular kind? Best answer:
Answer by TeaHawk
Green tea's good for you because of the antioxidant content, the amino acids, the natural interactions of all these plant compounds in ways science still doesn't understand... and is thought to have benefits on health, wellness, and prevention of disease. (link below) That said, all bets are off for bottled, mass-market green tea. Look on the label-- what else is in it? Chemical preservatives? How long has it sat in factories, in trucks, on the shelf-- long enough for these chemicals to degrade? Most processed, bottled, bagged, plastic food gets assembled in a lab, not on a farm. I understand that most premade "green tea" is made from extract, and not much at that because most people aren't used to how green tea tastes. Dr. Andrew Weil has another article on this topic below. And as always, check out some real, fresh-brewed tea from loose leaves! Then you'll get all the health benefits, and you can even brew it cold with a little lemon (because citrus in green tea has some more benefits, in the last article).
